A congests is one of the vertical cloud which can span from the low cloud to the high cloud. A single individual is huge, with strong convective cloud tops like broccoli. Sometimes the updraft is strong lifting the surrounding air becomes saturated. Clouds that resemble hats or lids are called "pileus." The development of cumulus to congests shows that the convection is quite strong, and the development process is quite rapid. It can also be accompanied by weather phenomena such as showers or thunderstorms.
