Atmospheric optics

The circumzenithal arc is also known as the "smiling rainbow", which is a type of Halo. It is similar to the circumhorizontal arc but appears on the top side of the sun. The condition is that the sun’s position relative to the observer must be at least below 32° in elevation. When the sun's rays are incident from the 90° angle of the ice crystal, it can cause about 58° of light refraction and produce arc-shaped band dispersion. The shape is similar to the arc-shaped ribbon color of the inverted rainbow.
